ALCONE has been in the professional cosmetics industry in New York since 1952 and is the go-to store for almost every Broadway show and New York-based production, as well as the place professional makeup artists all over the country buy supplies for their pro makeup kits.
The Malardi family (owners of Alcone Co) recognized that professional makeup artists did not have a way to retail the pro makeup they used and loved to their clients, so in 2013, "Alcone at Home" was launched as a way makeup artists and enthusiasts alike could sell professional makeup to women across the US. The line consisted of some of the best selling products from the Alcone Co store, rebranded under one unbrella. Yes, the thing that makes this product line so unique is that it is comprised of SEVERAL different pro makeup brands and manufacturers. It is literally the best of the best makeup out there! In addition to makeup, our CEO Michele Mallardi Gay wanted to create a skin care line that was completely free of harmful chemicals. Michele was very passionate about keeping harsh chemicals out of skin care, which is absorbed into the bloodstream within seconds. She partnered with a chemist who sources the best ingredients nature has to offer from sustainable farms all over the world, and the Limelight by Alcone skin care line was created. In 2015, Alcone at Home became Limelight by Alcone, and two short years later, Limelight partnered with L'Occitane International to take the Limelight brand GLOBAL. Having to rebrand to Limelife by Alcone our international expansion begun in March 2018 with our launch in Canada and now Limelife have finally Launched in the UK

My career journey so far has been a slow progressive one. I have given my self time and patience to start my journey as a freelance hair and make up artist.
In 2009 I started a hairdressing Apprenticeship with big dreams in mind to own a salon one day, I went though gruelling training in the salon, especially on training nights as I didn't finish till 8-9pm on a lot of training nights after starting at 9am!! This was all great preparation for what this industry could throw at me as not much goes to plan and you have to think on your feet. I thank my trainer in the salon and all those I worked with for giving me such a good start into my career. I Qualified in 2011 with the Apprentice of the year award. Due to personal circumstances I had to leave the salon, i then went on as a mobile hairdresser, after working for a while being mobile I decided to add beauty services on to the services I can offer. So in 2014, i attended full time beauty course at East Surrey Collage. In the course I learnt how to do Manicures, Pedicures, Waxing, Facials, Lash and Brow Tinting and how to apply make up. Due to the content of the course and that we only had 1 academic year to complete we learnt mostly about health and safety and didn't get much training in the techniques of make up application. I Qualified With the full time Student of the Year Award After the beauty course my current clients kept asking about Gel Polish Manicures and Pedicures so I went on a day course to learn the techniques and after care n Jan 16 and started offering those services. Straight after that course I booked was with the London School Of Make up to get certified in the technique and application of make up that was booked for November 16. The Make Up School course was intense!! i went on a 3 day course including a day of bridal. due to learning the health and safety at collage I didn't need to learn that just refresh on it all but I had learnt so much about techniques, application and products. I couldn't imagine trying to do the 3 days course if you haven't already gone to collage due to the amount information having to be learnt!!! I saw a few girls who's first course it was and they was completely baffled by the health and safety, non the less, It was an absolutely amazing atmosphere to work and learn in. After the 3 days I had to go off and complete 15 make up application to their standards (which were high!!) So i set upon my journey to complete my course which was severely interrupted by moving and decorating in Feb 17-April 17. i worked very hard overt he summer of 17, I finally felt in the winter of 17 after doing roughly 70 Make Up that i felt comfortable doing Day Make up to a high standard and passed my Day/Bridal Make Up exam in Nov 17. Then the real hard bit came have to push my self out of my nice comfortable boundaries and start applying heavier evening make up (which i have never even applied on myself!) and making it look like a seasoned professional had done it. Working really hard though the winter of 17-18 finally I passed my evening make up in March 18. The feeling was unreal to have passed something I had worked so hard on not just in practical but so much time spent researching and networking, learning all the colour theories for the undertones of the skin , and what colours go with what tones. I can talk all day about it, but i will keep that for another blog. I am now at a point in my career where I am networking with some of the best professionals, receiving free pro brand products, learning about new brands, new textures of products and taking my make up and hairstyling to a new whole new level of awesome. Transitioned from trainee to Pro and I cant explain how unbelievable that feels :) It has been a long time starting my career, just over 9 years!!! i can say that every step I have taken in so much information and really used it. I haven't just learnt health and safety 1 time by doing a quick make up and hair course then calling myself a professional, i have learnt it 3 times on 3 long in depth courses over 9 years and its so deeply embedded into my brain now i have to use it with all my services because i know the risks of the top of my head if i don't. I have learnt all about the skin/hair/muscles/bones/lymphatic system, not just applying make up or styling hair the way everyone else is, but applying/styling it to bring out the best individual features on each and every person, so that they feel comfortable and confidant in how they look which will spread onto their day ahead. Thank you for reading the journey of my career, i will keep posting updates with new courses that i intend to go and the result of what i have learnt and how i am progressing my career even further :) Patricia Bearcroft |
